Why is "good vs. evil" a universal theme?
Pavlova-9 [17]
The reason why "good vs. evil" is a universal theme is because there are always two forces at work one for good and one for evil and for every good/evil thing there is an evil/good thing that will go up against each other until the end of time or at least until one of them is defeated, but then another good/evil thing will appear to take it place.
Example 1:
Your in high school and there is a bully and you try to stop the bully from hurting others. This makes you the good force and the bully the evil force (he/she doesn't have to be "evil" per-say just bad or mean will do).

In what way did John Brown embody the Transcendentalist philosophy of Emerson and Thoreau? He died for a cause he believed in. H
just olya [345]

Answer: He used any means necessary to fight an unjust law.

In spite of the fact that Thoreau advocates peaceful activity in "Protection from Civil Government," he later upheld the savage activities of John Brown, who executed unarmed expert subjugation pilgrims in Kansas, and in 1859 assaulted the bureaucratic weapons store at Harper's Ferry, Virginia. In "A Plea for Captain John Brown," Thoreau depicts Brown as a "Holy messenger of Light" (R, 137) and "a visionary most importantly" (115) who trusted "that a man has an ideal appropriate to meddle by power with the slaveholder, so as to safeguard the slave" (R,132). In mid 1860, only months previously the episode of the Civil War, he and Emerson took an interest out in the open recognitions of Brown's life and activities.

SVETLANKA909090 [29]
He concluded with a PANEGYRIC on modern chemistry.

Panegyric is defined as a public speech or text that praises someone or something. It is similar to eulogy but unlike eulogy, the recipient of the praise is not limited to a person. As is the case of the above sentence, the subject of the praise was modern chemistry. Because of modern chemistry, Frankenstein was given life.
