Many doctors rely on the use of intravenous medication administration in order to achieve an immediate response of a particular

drug's effects. The concentration, C, in mg/L, of a particular medication after being injected into a patient can be given by the function C of t is equal to the quantity negative 18 times t squared plus 54 times t end quantity over the quantity t squared plus 7 times t plus 10 end quantity comma where the time, t is hours after injection.
Part A: What is the domain of the function C(t) based on the context of the problem? Show all necessary calculations. (5 points)

Part B: Graph the function to determine the greatest concentration of the medication that a patient will have in their body. (5 points)

The domain of the function is 0 ≤ t ≤ 3 and the greatest concentration of the medication is 2mg/L

<h3>The domain of the function</h3>

The equation of the function is given as:

C(t) = \frac{-18t^2 + 54t}{t^2 + 7t + 10}

Time can be 0 or greater but cannot be negative.

So, the domain of the function includes t ≥ 0

Set the function to 0 to determine the maximum value of t.

\frac{-18t^2 + 54t}{t^2 + 7t + 10} = 0

Cross multiply

-18t^2 + 54t = 0

Factor out -18t

-18t(t - 3) = 0

Divide both sides by -18t

t - 3 = 0

Add 3 to both sides

t = 3

This means that the maximum value of t is 3

Hence, the domain of the function is 0 ≤ t ≤ 3

<h3>The greatest concentration of the medication</h3>

From the graph of the function (see attachment), we have the maximum value to be;

C(t) = 2

Hence, the greatest concentration of the medication is 2mg/L

20. Find the domain and range for the following graph.
vitfil [10]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  both are (-∞, ∞)

Step-by-step explanation:

The domain and range of any odd-degree polynomial are both "all real numbers." They go from -infinity to +infinity.

Your polynomial is of degree 3, so is of odd degree. The arrows on the ends of the curve indicate it extends to infinity in that direction.

  y → +∞  for  x → +∞

  y → -∞  for  x → -∞

1. Un examen de Matemáticas ha sido aprobado por 6/9 de los estudiantes. Al resto de los estudiantes le toca repetir el examen.
Eddi Din [679]

Answer:

15 students

Step-by-step explanation:

The fraction of students who will repeat the exam is:

1-\frac{6}{9}

=\frac{9}{9} -\frac{6}{9} =\frac{3}{9}

simplified is:

\frac{1}{3}

Extract this fraction of 45:

45(\frac{1}{3} )=\frac{45}{3} =15

Hope this helps

Factor f(x)=x4-x3-7x2+13x-6 completely. Then Sketch the graph
Dennis_Churaev [7]

ANSWER TO QUESTION 1

f(x)=(x-2)(x+3)(x-1)^2.

EXPLANATION

The function given to us is,

f(x)=x^4-x^3-7x^2+13x-6

According to rational roots theorem,

\pm1,\pm2,\pm3,\pm6 are possible rational zeros of

f(x)=x^4-x^3-7x^2+13x-6.

We find out that,

f(-3)=(-3)^4-(-3)^3-7(-3)^2+13(-3)-6

f(-3)=81+27-63-39-6

f(-3)=6-6

f(-3)=0

Also

f(2)=(2)^4-(2)^3-7(2)^2+13(2)-6

f(2)=16-8-28+26-6

f(2)=6-6

f(2)=0

This implies that

x-2 and x+3 are factors of

f(x)=x^4-x^3-7x^2+13x-6 and hence (x-2)(x+3)=x^2+x-6 is also a factor.

We perform the long division as shown in the diagram.

Hence,

f(x)=(x-2)(x+3)(x-1)^2.

ANSWER TO QUESTION 2

Sketching the graph

We can see from the factorization that the roots

x=2 and x=-3 have a multiplicity of 1, which is odd. This means that the graph crosses the x-axis at this intercepts.

Also the root x=1 has a multiplicity of 2, which is even. This means the graph does not cross the x-axis at this intercept.

Now we determine the position of the graph on the following intervals,

x\le -3

f(-4)=(-4)^4-(-4)^3-7(-4)^2+13(-4)-6

f(-4)=150\:>0

-3\le x \le 1

f(0)=-6\:

1\le x\le 2

f(1.5)=-0.56\:

x \ge 2

f(3)=24\:>0

We can now use these information to sketch the function as shown in diagram
