The name of the city of St. Petersburg was changed following the Russian Revolution
alekssr [168]
This is true. After the revolution the name was changed from St. Petersburg to Petrograd, which means Peter's city, and a bit later it was further changed into Leningrad. This was because the soviets wanted to completely secularize themselves and remove all figures that were related to the monarchy. In 1991 it changed its name back to St Petersburg.

How did innovations in communication technology affect american women
Lemur [1.5K]

Hey there,

Women have been on the other side of the line since the telegraph was invented, and we served a significant role during the American Civil War and then in both WWl-WWll as well by providing this manual connection service.

Then, just around the 1960's when communication technology was starting to make us all feel a little bit closer to each other around town (or around the country) the working force behind all of it was mostly women.

These women would manually connect callers to each individual phone. So, that very famous saying "Operator, get me..." was really something people would say on their daily basis.

These innovations gave many of American women stable jobs around a growing technology that still continues to evolve.
