How do these percentages explain why the democrats adopted several populist planks and nominated the populist candidate as their
Novay_Z [31]
The reason for why is very simple: they believed it would increase their chance of wining. This is a common practice in the US politics and why the two main parties are well the only important parties in the US today. What techniques did the civil rights movement use to challenge segregation?
DochEvi [55]
They did many things in order to protest. They would go to bars that were only allowing white people, or they would blockade buses and ride in front even though they would have to ride in the back due to segregation. They would occupy streets and go for marches, or go for walks at parts of town that didn't want them and were unfriendly.

Why did many factory owners in the late 1800s hire children rather than adults?
dangina [55]
Factory owners used child labour because, quite simply, it was cheaper. Children worked for less than adults, and their parents were often happy to send them off to work, as the lower classes did not value education. Many men lost work when machines were introduced, as machines could do more work in less time, so if the children had the opportunity to work and earn money, they did.
