In this excerpt, we can see the use of metaphor. Here is this line: "...men and women decided to rise from the dark dungeons of complacency to the bright hills of creative protest?"

<h3>What is the type of Figurative Language used?</h3>

A metaphor is a figure of speech that is used to make a comparison between two things (objects) that aren't similar but have some characteristics in common.

Figurative language refers to using phrases in a manner that deviates from the traditional order and which means so that you can deliver a complex which means colorful writing, clarity, or evocative comparison.

The Effect on Tone and Mood:

In our case, it creates an image of how miserable Negro men and women were, and how they endured their hard lives, so they decided to rise in a protest. The mood is tense at first, then it creates an uplifting mood, full of strength to fight the injustice.

The Effect on Audience:

The use of metaphor has helped a writer to depict creatively and interestingly the feelings and life of men and women. It helped to create a strong image in the readers' imagination and left a lasting impression.

Describe the structure Kennedy uses to deliver this delicate message at a time of stress.
Archy [21]

Answer:

Kennedy spoke his famous words, "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." This use of antimetabole can be seen even as a thesis statement of his speech—a call to action for the public to do what is right for the greater good.

Read “Grass” by Carl Sandburg.
allochka39001 [22]

Answer:

Answer is The speaker is the grass that is determined to grow over the earth.

Explanation:

The last two lines of the poem clearly say

<em>"I am the grass</em>

<em>Let me work".</em>

Here the subject of the sentence represents itself as "the grass" and it emphasises during the poem that it "covers all", which means that its work is to cover the earth.

In this poem, the speaker wants to remind people that even though it covers the battlefields makinf the dead bodies invisible, the memory always sticks with people. Except for making us feel for all the dead bodies and tragedies, this poem reminds us that horrors of war mustn't be forgotten.

Match the description to the character.
bonufazy [111]

We can match the description to the character in "The Miracle Worker" in the following manner:

  1. Helen's half brother - James Keller
  2. Helen's mother -  Kate Keller
  3. Helen's father - Captain Arthur Keller
  4. Annie Sullivan's brother - Jimmy
  5. first word spelled for Helen - doll
  6. Annie Sullivan's teacher - Mr. Anagnos

<h3>Characters in "The Miracle Worker"</h3>

The characters mentioned above are found in "The Miracle Worker," a story based on the true story of Helen Keller, a young girl who was both deaf and blind.

It was Annie Sullivan who performed the "miracle" of teaching Helen when no one else could. The very first word she spelled on Helen's palm was doll. Helen was finally able to understand that different things had different names.

Read the dialogue from Act III of Hamlet. Hamlet: Now, mother, what’s the matter? Gertrude: Hamlet, thou hast thy father much of
Oxana [17]

The correct answer is Queen Gertrude is caught between her new husband and her son.

B is definitely incorrect because his father is dead so he cannot observe his conversation; C is incorrect because Gertrude believes Hamlet should blindly follow what Claudius has to say; D is incorrect because Hamlet hates Claudius.

This leaves us with sentence A - Gertrude has just lost her husband but she remarried immediately. Now, she is torn between her son whom she loves, and her new husband, who she feels she should obey.
