Places located near the equator receives more sunlight than those located near one of the poles. This has something to do with the angle and how the sun casts its light. The more that you are at the center, the more direct the sunlight is shining on you. As you go further from the center, the angle of sunlight bends, giving an uneven distribution of sunlight to areas far from the equator. This is why most countries that are located far from the equator experience snow. They receive less sunlight than those who are living in tropical countries.

I think elevation impacts the temperature at which water boils because...

As the altitude increases the pressure in the atmosphere decreases. This means that when the atmospheric pressure is lower, your water will reach it's boiling point faster. (AKA: at a lower temperature.)

maks197457 [2]

Answer:

The sound will reach my ear in a shorter time in Scenario 1.

The speed of sound waves in solids is faster than it is in gases.

Explanation:

The sound which is produce due to hitting of metal bar with a drumstick reaches to the ears in short time because sound is a longitudinal wave which requires or needs medium for its propagation from one place to another and in solids the particles of medium are close to each other as compared to air so the sound travels faster in solid materials as compared liquid and gases and takes less time to reach my ears.
