How does the study of snps and bioinformatics open the door to the development of personalized medications?
Yuri [45]
Bioinformatics is a science which combines biology with computer science in order to study the human genome, this science helps to answer many questions about genetics and by the way pharmacogenetic.
The research was done on SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) to find out why different people react to different medication differently. It finds out that these polymorphisms affect the protein capital and structure which is consisting of enzymes and receptors that are directly linked to the action and the metabolism of the medicine in the body.
That is why doctors should know the SNPs of their patients to give them the appropriate medication, and that will develop the personalized medication.
