1. Why does Douglass believe that black service in the Union army will
Elis [28]

Answer:

Douglass believed that serving in the army would ensure black people getting the right to full citizenship after the war.

Explanation:

After the Second Confiscation and Militia Act that freed the slaves with masters in the Confederate Army, the abolition of slavery in the territories of the United States, and the Emancipation Proclamation, the black volunteers were still hesitant. It was black leaders like Frederick Douglass who urged them to become soldiers as a way to get full citizenship, as he thought it was meant to happen. In his own words, "Once let the black man get upon his person the brass letter, U.S., let him get an eagle on his button, and a musket on his shoulder and bullets in his pocket, there is no power on earth that can deny that he has earned the right to citizenship."

what serious problem did the pilgrims face when they landed on november 11? how did the solve this problem?
prisoha [69]

Question : What serious problem did the pilgrims face when they landed on November 11 and how did they solve this problem ?

My Answer :

What was the problem ?

They had drifted off course and had landed north of the original place where they were suppose to settle with also winter fast approaching; by staying where they were.

They also faced : 1. Disease

2. Indian attack

3. Malnutrition

4. Starvation

5. Unfamilliar weather

Most of these problems they couldn't solve, like disease, attack, starvation, and weather. The early colonists weren't very willing to work. They thought America was a continuous land of bounty from which they could reap the harvest. Well...it wasn't. A lot of people starved to death. On top of that, they were constantly worried about Indian attack...and they had the right to be. None of the Indians wanted to give up their land and share their resources with a strange invader

What happened in 1853 to transform Port Townsend from a small logging village to a prosperous town?
yKpoI14uk [10]

I believe none of the options that have been included are accurate. Port Townsend, located in a corner of the Olympic Peninsula, in the state of Washington, became, in 1853, the official port of entry once the district custom house was moved there from the capital, Olympia. The city, which would soon be known as The City of Dreams, was, for a few decades, the region's main port and trading center.
