n because the difference y – x for each row is constant. B. It is an exponential function because the y-values increase by an equal factor over equal intervals of x-values. C. It is an exponential function because the factor between each x- and y-value is constant. D. In Canada in 1998 the estimated number of households that owned 2 or more vehicles was 3.939 x 10 6
WITCHER [35]

In Canada in 1998 the estimated number of households written in standard decimal notation is 3939000

<u>Solution:</u>

Given that in 1998 estimated number of households that owned 2 or more vehicles was 3.939 \times 10^{6}

Need to represent the number 3.939 \times 10^{6} in standard decimal notation.

In this case we need to move the decimal point based on the power of 10.

In our case power of 10 = 6.

Let’s first take a number without 10^6 and add six zeros on right.

So we get 3.939000000

Now multiplying above number by 10^6 means moving the decimal after 6 numbers from the current position, that means

3.939 \times 10^{6}=3939000.00

That is 3939000 is required standard decimal notation of scientific notation number 3.939 \times 10^{6}

the equation P=2(L +w) can be used to find the perimeter P of a rectangle with length L and width W. Solve the equation for w to
Alenkasestr [34]
Hello,

We know that if we make the same operation on both sides, we don't affect the equation:

For example:
2=2 \\ 2\bold{+2}=2\bold{+2} \\ 4=4

Do you see? we add 2 on both sides and we don't affect the equality

We can do the same with the multiplication, for example

4=4   (i'll multiply both sides by 1/2)
4*\bold{ \frac{1}{2}}=4*\bold{ \frac{1}{2}} \\ 2=2

Now, we do exactly the same in your excercise:

P=2(L+W) \,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,[multiply\,\,by\,\,1/2] \\ \\ P*\bold{ \frac{1}{2}}=2(L+W)*\bold{ \frac{1}{2}} \\  \\ \frac{P}{2}=L+W\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,[Subtract\,\,L]\\  \\ \frac{P}{2}-\bold{L}=L+W-\bold{L}\\  \\ \frac{P}{2}-\bold{L}=L-\bold{L}+W \\  \\ \frac{P}{2}-L=W\\ \\ \boxed{ W= \frac{P}{2}-L }

What is the equation of the following line? Be sure to scroll down first to see
Advocard [28]

<em><u>Question:</u></em>

What is the equation of the following line? Be sure to scroll down first to see all answer options. ( 0, 0) (2, -8)

<em><u>Answer:</u></em>

The equation of line is y = -4x

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Given points are ( 0, 0) (2, -8)

<em><u>Find the slope of line</u></em>

m = \frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

From given,

(x_1, y_1) = (0, 0)\\\\(x_2, y_2) = (2, -8)

Substituting the values we get,

m = \frac{-8-0}{2-0}\\\\m = -4

<em><u>The equation of line in slope intercept form is given as:</u></em>

y = mx + c --------- eqn 1

Where,

m is the slope of line

c is the y intercept

<em><u>Substitute m = -4 and (x, y) = (0, 0) in eqn 1</u></em>

0 = -4(0) + c

c = 0

<em><u>Substitute m = -4 and c = 0 in eqn 1</u></em>

y = -4x + 0

y = -4x

Thus the equation of line is y = -4x
