Chapter 23 is important in defining Jem's new perception of the legal system and the

Answer:

Jem says Tom's punishment is inappropriate, but he can't describe why. Maybe assault shouldn't be a capital offense. Atticus says he has no problem with the assault statute, but he has "serious reservations" when the state asks for the death penalty on circumstantial evidence. Before a person is executed, eyewitnesses should testify that they observed the crime. In the absence of that, there is always "the shadow of a doubt... the possibility, no matter how improbable, that he's innocent." Jem notes that the jury convicted a man on circumstantial evidence. He believes juries should be eliminated. Atticus offers a superior solution to Regulate. Only judges should decide death sentences.

response journal to the five people you meet in heaven words from the text and then response help please
inysia [295]
Here hope this helps

Here, Albom debunks the dated and/or cliched view of a Heaven filled with the familiar imagery of angels, clouds, and harps. Albom’s interpretation of Heaven goes beyond these superficial markers; he indicates that Heaven is a process of spiritual catharsis instead of a singular physical destination. Eddie learns that his journey into the afterlife can only progress if he deals with the emotional and spiritual baggage he is carrying from his earthly life. Eddie’s encounters with his five people in Heaven are not always comforting; these meetings are emotionally and physically painful at times. Therefore, Albom ascribes an important purpose to his depiction of Heaven: to break all earthly ties - no matter how beloved or wretched the memories might be.

At the end of Chapter 3, the narrator states, “Thus it was, grandchildren, that I began my day as Kii Yazhi and ended it as Ned
Olegator [25]

Answer:

"Thus it was, grandchildren, that I began my day as Kii Yazhi and ended it as Ned Begay.”

Significance of this statement:

The story of how he ended up with a different name at the end of the day is the meaning of this statement to me. Because the white teacher didn't understand their language and didn't realize that Biye means "son of" in Navajo, there were so many Begays. So he gave him the name Biye, spelled "Begay" as he had heard it. Other white men followed suit. That's why there are so many Begay Navajo families. He was relieved that he didn't have another John for a first name. The white man was tired of writing the name John by the time he got to him. As a result, he was given the same first name as the teacher's uncle, "Ned," who had died.
