We can actually answer this question by giving a guide to how to write the letter:

 • Gupta will first outline her points logically and convincingly.
 • Write her address and date and then followed by the Editor's address.
 • Salute the editor e.g Dear Editor, Dear sir, etc.
 • Then write the subject of the letter.
 • Go ahead and write the body of the letter. She will make her claims here with evidences.
 • Then give a complimentary close.
 • Append her name and signature.

What is a formal letter?

A formal letter is actually known to be the letter that is written to unfamiliar people like business owners, editors, bosses, leaders of organisations, etc. It doesn't include any form of familiarity.

We see that the above guide will help you to write your letter to the editor of The Times of India.

In which one of the following sentences could you best use a semicolon?
fomenos
I think it's C.

Because, lemme put commas on each sentences....

(1) If you ask me, Jerry is a tennis whiz.

(2) When she is worried, Lucille eats a lot.

(3) Jerry loves tennis, he plays everyday.

(4) Lucille bought a new tennis racket and brought it home. << Where should I put it?

So, (4) is automatically out of question. (1) and (2) seems okay with comma, but (3) is a little bit weird. (3) supposed to have 'and' in the middle, but it's not there. So, you can put semicolon there, to separate the words.
