   The 1973 Chilean coup d'état was a military coup in Chile that deposed the  Unity government of President Salvador Allende.

 This coup was covertly planned by the CIA in an effort to protect American Interest in Latin America.

  In order to prevent the spread of socialism in Latin America, president Kennedy conceived the idea of economic and infrastructural development in Latin America.

  President Allende tried to Nationalize two copper industries (Anaconda and Kennicott) both of which were headquartered in the US and hence the American intervention.
