After the civil war, the confederate states were quick to envisage what was known to be black codes. These were laws that were advocated with the desire to bring back the same conditions that prevailed during the slavery. These laws insisted the African Americans to work for low wages and restricted their freedom to associate with one another in the same country. Black code were created by the white law makers who desired to  prove their dominance in the country.

Prevalence of slavery in the antebellum south is the major cause in fact  for the American economy to attain stability. Jim crow laws legalized segregation of people based on their race and ethnicity. It was considered to be legal based on the doctrine 'separate but equal' mentioned in the constitution.
