Answer:

d) Mercedes is the only one at home, and she is too busy with her embroidery in Madam Hailer's room to come near you

Explanation:

a) “You are going to build a large house, Mr. Darrell?” said Victoriano, turning his horse so as to ride beside Clarence; “judging by the amount of lumber being hauled.”

b) “I understand, and I think my father will be willing to sell the land. He is at home now. Let us go up to see him.”

c) They have too much sense not to know that you would not be working in white kid gloves.

d) Mercedes is the only one at home, and she is too busy with her embroidery in Madam Hailer's room to come near you

Since Mercedes is depicted as being at home alone before having a love encounter, it is clear that the author has resorted to narration to communicate this information.

How does wheatley's use of sable impact the tone of on being brought from africa to america
rosijanka [135]

The excerpt given above is taken from Phillis Wheatley's poem "On Being Brought from Africa to America". The word sable literally means color black. In this line, Wheatley uses the word "sable" to indicate sense of inferiority. The author is an African and their race color is different from the rest.

EX 2-14 Margin of safety
hoa [83]

Answer:

Explanation:

a. The margin of safety will be calculated first and this will be:

= Actual sales - Break even sales

= $1,200,000 - $960,000

= $240,000

The margin of safety expressed as a percentage of sales will then be:

= 240,000/1200000 × 100

= 1/5 × 100

= 20%

b. Firstly, we have to calculate the break even sales which will be:

= Fixed cost / Contribution margin ratio

= 1875000 / (100% - 80%)

= 1875000/20%

= 1875000/0.2

= $9,375,000

Then, to calculate the actual sales goes thus:

% Margin of safety = Margin of safety / Actual sales.

20% = (Actual sales - 9375000) / Actual sales

0.2 × Actual sales = Actual sales - 9375000

Actual sales = $11,718,750
