The definition of politics is “who gets what, when, and how,” or the use of authority to decide on public policy.

What is policy?

A “policy” can be a rule, practice, administrative decision, directive, or framework in a government or other institution.

According to Harold Lasswell, “who gets what, when, and how” is what constitutes politics. Citizens are at odds over values, and society needs a system of rules to determine who gets what. A legal institution is the government.

Hence, the significance of the public policy is aforementioned.

Explain why an earthquake warning system is useful even though earthquakes can not be predicted.
Gre4nikov [31]

Answer:

The further people are from the earthquake source, the more warning time they will have, as the waves will take longer to reach them

Explanation:

Fatal accidents during an earthquake can happen in the matter of seconds. Sometimes, rooftops can fall on top of the victims' head. An explosion could occur from leaked gas, etc.

Even if earthquakes can't be predicted, having that additional seconds from the warning can be all it takes for a person to get out from their house and go to some place safe.
