What causes the temperature to decrease with height in the troposphere?

Geography

frozen [14]3 years ago

We have all noticed that if we hike from a place with low elevation and go up at a place with high elevation, that the temperature is gradually dropping, thus giving us a clue that the lower places are warmer, while the higher places are cooler. The reason for this, even though both the places with low and high elevation are located in the troposphere, thus the same atmospheric layer, is that the density of it is not the same everywhere. The troposphere has the highest density at its lowest points, and as the height increase the density decreases. Since the higher parts are less dense, that means that there are less gases, thus there are less molecules that are further apart from each other. This results in lesser absorption of heat, so this parts are cooler, while the lower parts are warmer because the troposphere is denser, there's more molecules that are also closer to each other, thus they absorb more heat.

Explain why having a primate city can negatively affect the economic development of a country.
marin [14]

The way that a primate city can negatively affect development of a country is the fact that there is an unequal distribution of resources, wealth and power in the city.

What is a primate city?

This is a city that is known to be the dominant city in a country compared t other cities or towns that may be around it.

In such ciities, most of the investments and resources are focused there and other places are left out.

A rock with a porphyritic texture has large crystals “floating” in small crystals. Describe what made it form this way.
Maslowich

Answer: Summary. Intrusive igneous rocks cool from magma slowly because they are buried beneath the surface, so they have large crystals. Extrusive igneous rocks cool from lava rapidly because they form at the surface, so they have small crystals. Texture reflects how an igneous rock formed.

Paragraph-how high GDP can affect child mortality
Jet001 [13]

Answer:

The authors found that, on average, a 1% reduction in the per capita GDP implies a 0.24 to 0.40 increase in infant mortality per 1,000 live births. In a more recent study, O’Hare et al.17 found effects of 0.33 for infant mortality and 0.28 for under-five mortality. These results are higher than those observed in the present study, which found an association of approximately 0.12 for infant mortality and 0.10 for under-five mortality rate for the total sample, and 0.15 and 0.14, respectively, for the subsample of low- and middle-income countries. This difference is probably due to the countries included in the sample, as Baird et al.14 and O’Hare et al.17 include only middle- and low-income countries in their analysis, while the present study included countries from the three income strata, with only 14% of the sample consisting of low-income countries. According to Maruthappu et al.6, the effect of economic crises on the health of children under five in the poorest countries is three-fold higher than the effect on children in high-income countries.
