Answer: \frac{3 +- \sqrt{23}i}{2} If using complex numbers, or undefined if using all real numbers

Step-by-step explanation:

Moving -8 to the left side of the eq by adding both sides by 8=

x^2-3x+8=0

The quad formula:\frac{-b  +- \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

a=1 b=-3 c=8

Inserting a b c values into formula: \frac{-(-3)  +- \sqrt{(-3)^2-4(1)(8)}}{2(1)}

Simplifying: \frac{3 +- \sqrt{9-32}}{2}

\frac{3 +- \sqrt{-23}}{2}  Since the square root of a negative number doesn't exist in the set of real numbers, the equation is undefined.

OR

\frac{3 +- \sqrt{23}i}{2} Using complex numbers i, to replace the negative number created by subtracting 9-32.

How you would solve the following problem: 4.5 + h = 7.3.
DENIUS [597]
You need to form an algebraic equation. 4.5+h=7.3 therefore h= 7.3 - 4.5 when you take 4.5 to the other side it becomes negative therefore the answer is 2.8.

Y1=4(5x-1), y2-=5x+1 and y1 is 344 more than 2 times y2
alisha [4.7K]
 y_1=4(5^x-1) and y_2=5^x+1

y_1=344+2y_2
y_1=344+2(5^x+1)
4(5^x-1) = 344 + 2(5^x+1)
(4)(5^x)-4=344+2(5^x)+2
4(5^x)-2(5^x)=344+2+4
2(5^x)=350
5^x= \frac{350}{2}
5^x=175
log(5^x)=log(175)
x(log(5))=log(175)
x= \frac{log175}{log5}
x=3.21 (rounded to two decimal places)
