The rising action comes after the exposition in a text. In the exposition, we learn about the initial situation and about the past and background of the character. This sets the scene for the story. However, in the rising action, the character faces increasing obstacles. This is the moment when the story becomes more complex, until it reaches the climax, which is the moment of most tension.
