I don't think so the church was not going to list to anyone they only followed the church so to them all of that science stuff was a bunch of bull. And if they did want to believe in it I don't think that they would tell cause the other church people would treat them the same as Galileo!

The church leaders had taught for many years that the Earth is flat and that the Earth is the center of the Universe. They had taught a literal version of the bible wrongly and quoted it out of context.

The Church leaders were revered and to teach otherwise on this matter will be against their belief system. They are also believed that members will err , giving there own interpretation of the Bible.
