Skeletal system is the system where the effects of a vitamin D deficiency will be most readily observed. Vitamin D plays a major role in the growth and the development of the skeletal system. It helps in the absorption of calcium and also promotes bone growth. A deficiency in vitamin D would result to soft bones in children, and fragile, misshapen bones in adults.
