The features which distinguishes Elizabethan drama from earlier forms of theatre are as follows-
- A new focus on secular, rather than religious, themes;
- Performances in theaters by professional actors;
- Exploration of human experience, as well as politics and philosophy.
It is so because, unlike the earlier form of theatre Elizabethan drama wasn't focusing upon religious stories and themes, in fact it was making secular themes which were getting popularized. However, within the beginning of this era only secular theme, topics, philosophy were started getting discussed.
In the beginning of Elizabethan drama, many actors formed this as a profession with their sweat and blood (hard work), such as, William Alabaster, Edward Alleyn and Robert Armin, among others, unlike the earlier dramas where anyone could perform in a play.

Dramatic irony is a literary device where the audience knows the truth or events that transpired that the characters in the story do not. Like in Trifles, we know what happened but Mrs. Hale played the innocent.
So the answer to your question is D. It seems like she was just answering the question, but the audience knows what her response really meant because we know that she is guilty.
B. Novels have simple straightforward themes (and few of them).
