The speaker describe differently the springtime scene because the spring is of different state compared to the current scene that he/she is describing. The current scene talks about the dead plants on the road during winter while the springtime signals the the coming to life of those plants. It is definitely a different scene that requires a change in the description to emphasize its entrance.

EXPLANATION

“Spring” is written by Francesco Petrarca. Francesco Petrarca is more commonly recognized as Petrarch. He was a humanist, a writer, and an Italian poet. Petrarch has a collection of poems. He named the collection “Il Canzoniere”. It was originally not named that, it was titled as Rerum Vulgarium Fragmenta. The name Rerum Vulgarium Fragmenta means the fragments of common things.

Consisted of 366 poems, the majority of the works are in Sonnet form (317), with some using Canzoni (29), Madrigals (4), Sestine (9), and Ballate (7). The theme of the book revolved around Petrarch’s Love of Laura, whom he allegedly met on April 6, 1327. Petrarch’s detailed dating of his manuscripts allowed scholars to date that the poems were written over the span of forty years, the earliest from 1327. Petrarch’s work would later become the greatest influence on the love poetry of Renaissance Europe for hundreds of years, well until the 17th century.

Il Canzoniere’s main purpose is to praise Laura, Petrarch’s first love. As in many other great songbooks, Laura is already married and she rejected Petrarch’s every advances. Though this book revolves around Laura, it is unknown whether Petrarch and Laura ever spoke to one another.

In his poems Petrarch brilliantly portrayed the virtues of love, questioning in relation to Christianity and desire that is always present. Petrarch’s view of balance leads to the essential paradox of Petrarchan love, where it is wanted yet it is aching. Other themes that are present in this book are desire, isolation, unrequited love, the changing mind of man and the passing of time.
