The King's family saved his life.

Alberta Williams King, the mother of Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot and killed in the church by Marcus Wayne Chenault six years after the association of her son (1974). She was 69 years old.

Her killer was a 23-year-old black man from Ohio. He stated that he shot Mrs. King because she was a Christian and all Christians 'were his enemies'. His original target was Martin Luther King Sr., but his wife was closer to be reached.

He was sentenced to death but it was because of the King's family that his life was spared. The Kings are firmly opposed to the death penalty so they pushed for his sentence to be changed into life in prison. Chanault died in prison after suffering a stroke.

The Great Compromise (Or the Connecticut Compromise of July 16, 1787) was a compromise began by Roger Sherman and Oliver Ellsworth, in which it was stablished a Congress representation bicameral system, compound of the Senate and the House of Representatives, where in the Senate it'd be assigned an equal seats number by state, but in the House of Representatives, there would be assigned a seats number according to each state population proportion.

And the Great Compromise was compared to the Virginia and New Jersey Plans, because that Compromise arised from a disccordance between the Virginia Plan (Or the James Maddison's plan) and the New Jersey Plan (Or the Paterson’s New Jersey Plan) that were presented in the Convention of May 14 to September 17, 1787, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Moreover, the Virginia Plan proposed important changes in the Congress structure, stablishing a Bicameral system, but by other side the New Jersey plan was based in the confederation articles, stablishing an Unicameral congress System, so to resolve those diferences, on June 11, 1787, Roger Sherman and Oliver Ellsworth proposed the Connecticut Compromise, where were included proposals from both plans.
