Why does a euglena has a flagellum that allows it to move?
Artist 52 [7]
Euglena move from one place to another like an animal. When they manufacture their own food, they have to move to such an area where they can receive required amount of sunlight. There are two features on its body that facilitate in its movement. The most important is the flagellum, which is a long whip-like appendage attached to the body. It turns and twists in the water in order to push the body through the water. The other physical feature that plays a vital role in giving a sense of direction to its movement is the eyespot, also located at the anterior of its body. It is a light-sensitive, pigmented organelle which is capable of detecting sunlight. Thus, it orients the movement towards the direction of light, where they can collect sunlight required for making food. The ability to move plays a significant role in vital life processes of Euglena, such as the synthesis of food. Hope that helps ;)

The answer is most likely B). 'The harmless bacteria would not have been transformed, and the mice would have lived,' because, then bacterium transform, they use the genetic material present in their environment to do so, and when Avery destroyed the nucleotide bases(Genetic material) with an enzyme he destroyed any chances that the bacteria would have had at transforming into the virulent strain.

Pani-rosa [81]

A chemical imbalance in the brain is said to occur when there’s either too much or too little of certain chemicals, called neurotransmitters, in the brain. Neurotransmitters are natural chemicals that help facilitate communication between your nerve cells. Examples include norepinephrine and serotonin.

It’s often said that mental disorders, such as depression and anxiety, are caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. The hypothesis is sometimes called the chemical imbalance hypothesis or chemical imbalance theory.

If you’re wondering if the symptoms you’re having are caused by a chemical imbalance, it’s important to know that there’s quite a bit of controversy surrounding this theory.

In fact, it’s been largely refuted by the medical community. Researchers argue that the chemical imbalance hypothesis is more of a figure of speech. It doesn’t really capture the true complexity of these disorders. In other words, mental disorders aren’t simply caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. There’s a lot more to them.
