Insulin is a protein hormone that is secreted into the bloodstream when blood sugar is high. Imagine that insulin could be intro

duced into many different environments within and outside of cells. In which of the following environments would you expect insulin to be properly folded? (select all that apply)1. phagolysosomal lumen2. mitochondrial matrix3. extracellular space4. golgi lumen5. ER lumen6. cytosol

In cells such as beta cells where insulin can be synthesized, properly folded insulin can be found in the cytosol in insulin secretary vesicles where they are stored until released thru beta cell detection of high blood glucose levels. In other cells, insulin is a extracellular ligand which does not enter the cell hence is also found in the extracellular space. The answer is thus 3 and 6.

3. Extracellular Space: Insulin is in the bloodstream and breaks down compounds such as sugar. This protein would not be found inside any cell

(ii) Fish use their gills as a gas exchange surface.
maks197457 [2]
Exchange of gases in fish is very efficient because of: the large surface area of the gills. the large surface area of the blood capillaries in each gill filament. the short distance required for diffusion – the outer layer of the gill filaments and the capillary walls are just one cell thick.

What can the muscular system be compared to in a car?
masya89 [10]

Answer:

Engine is very much similar to the muscular system in a car.

Explanation:

The system is made up of the tissues which work with skeltal system to control the movement  of the body is called Muscular System. In a car the engine is very much similar to the muscular system. They both help their systems to move. Without them the car or body would not going to operate.Like the human body car parts are also specialised & perform specific tasks, but they all depend on each other. Many would compare the engine of the car with heart of human body. The heart is the engine of the body just like the car. Our brain is very much similar to the the car's computer system or CPU.Every car  is powered by an engine and most cars use an internal combustion engine which runs on gasoline.A car's overall power is a function of the size of engine as well as the factors such as timing of combustion and the type of transmission used.
