World war 2- was the first time anyone ever noticed conflict between USSR and the states. Then post ww2 after the alliance was over USSR had missiles in Cuba pointed at the US and the US installed muddled in turkey. There was constantly tension on the most progressive nation not only military wise but also sports, events, and most famously the space race.
