The 1951 Ghana national election was won by the CPP.

Main reasons why CPP was dominated:

1. The main reason was the charisma or devotion of the leader Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his dynamic leadership style.

2. Political strategists within the party, such as Komla Agbeli Gbedemah, Kojo Botsio and Krobo Edusei, played an effective organizational role.

3. C.P.P. also established the Youth Organizing Committee (C.Y.O.), a grassroots political movement. This group consisted of young radical nationalists who agreed to help the party

The American aims was to work with its allies to contain the spread of soviet and communist Chinese power using political, economic and if necessary military pressures. Any failure of containment was potentially disastrous. According to the USA the loss of SK might well lead to a chain reaction leading to the loss of much of the rest of Asia, including Japan.
