What are collocations?

The term collocations refers to words or phrases that are often used together. For example, with certain verbs, some specific prepositions will often be used:

 • look - for
 • talk - about
 • to be interested - in

By using our knowledge of collocations, we can choose the word that seems best for each sentence:

 • Good / Bad - Adjective. We use it to refer to a noun.
 • Poorly / Well - Adverb. We use it to modify a verb.
 • Fewer / Number - We use it with countable nouns.
 • Less / Amount - We use it with uncountable nouns.
 • Affect - Verb. It means to change something, to influence something or someone.
 • Effect - Noun. It is the same as result or consequence. When used as a verb, it means to accomplish something.
 • Like and as - These are the most complicated ones, since they are used interchangeably. In general, "like" is used to mean "similar to," as a comparison. "As" can also be used to compare, but it is often used to mean "in the role of."

With the information above in mind, we can conclude that the answers provided above are in accordance with collocations.

characteristic of Venn diagram. These curves are frequently round or elliptical in shape.

Developed in the 1880s by John Venn (1834-1923), a Venn diagram is a common diagram type that illustrates the logical relationship between sets. Simple set relationships in probability, logic, statistics, linguistics, and computer science are illustrated using the diagrams, which are also used to teach basic set theory. Simple closed curves depicting sets on a plane are used in Venn diagrams.

Logic or set diagrams are other names for a Venn diagram. It is a diagram that depicts every conceivable logical relationship between a finite number of various sets. In these diagrams, sets are represented by areas inside closed curves, while elements are represented by points in the plane. Multiple, closely spaced, closed curves form a Venn diagram.

Question 4

The Correct answer is B. Word choice and writing style

Explanation:

Theme in Literature means an idea or the key message about life and human behavior that a writer expresses in a literary work. It could also mean a statement that a work makes about its subject. A writer develops the theme based on his perspective about life and this is usually present in a piece of writing. The theme of a story must have a strong meaning as it is the key idea.

Narrative Arc traces the grouping of the occasions in a story which begins with the opening or presentation, the body and the end snapshots of a story. It is a spoken or composed record of associated occasions. To understand what a narrative arc is, look at the background of a story, it follows sequentially. It contains some structures in Literature namely; Exposition, Rising action, Climax, falling action, Resolution.

A story or poem written in first person point-of-view is a story written and narrated by the author. The story uses personal narratives and pronouns like I, me, my, etc.Usually, a story is written in the first-person point of view, when a person rights about his life (autobiography). It tends to connect to the readers and listeners because the narrator uses clear words capable of being easily understood. Examples are Sherlock Holmes, the Sun Also Rises, Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels, Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird Harper Lee, etc.

When you read what an author writes, his voice is understood through his word choice and writing style. Authors incorporate different literary styles of writing to convey an idea. Authors have a peculiar way of writing, as two authors cannot write the same way. The tone of an author may differ from the other and this is what makes their work unique. It is important to note that "voice" does not necessarily mean the physical voice that can be heard. It means the literary idea passed.
