The excerpt in the story that indicates falling action is B) All the town’s children came out of the houses and followed the piper up the mountain. Neither their parents nor anyone else could stop them. The children filed into a cave in the mountain, and the rock that covered the cave door moved back to close it.

What is Falling Action?

This refers to the part of the plot of a story that shows the action that follows after the climax has been reached.

Hence, we can see that from the given story, it is narrated that rats have always been causing a nuisance in a little town and people wanted a solution.

Therefore, a reward was promised by the mayor for one that could get rid of the rats and then a piper came along, playing a sweet tune and he said he could get rid of them.

After getting rid of the rats by getting them to follow him and throwing them over a cliff, that shows the end of the climax which was the highest point of the story.

The falling action happens after the mayor refused to pay and the piper played his tune and all the children of the town followed him into a cave and never returned.

"There is blood on my head! Can you not see the blood on my head?" What is the significance of this line?
m_a_m_a [10]

Answer:

It shows that Reverend Hale feels guilty for his role in the trials.

Explanation:

This line is spoken by Reverend Hale in Act IV of "The Crucible" (1953) by Arthur Miller.

Mr. Hale says this line to Danforth that there is blood on his head. It means he (Mr. Hale) feels guilty for his role in the trial. He feels himself responsible for the death of so many innocent people before Act IV and for those who are to be hanged after that. Although Mr. Hale had got a feeling in about Act II that the accused were innocent, but he could not stand for them, and when he did, it was too late. For this reason Reverend Hale considers himself responsible for the death of innocent people and feels blood on his head.

"Can you not see the blood on my head" just emphasizes the first sentence of the line.

Since this line is spoken by Reverend Hale, so no answer option concerning Parris, Abigail, and John Proctor can be correct
