I’ve broken it down into the parts that you’ve highlighted:

Part A:
x = 25 + y
x + y = 95

Part B:
I’m using the substitution method to find the amount of time that Eric plays volleyball, so:
x + y = 95
x = 95 - y
95 - y = 25 + y
70 = 2y
y = 35, 35 minutes spent playing volleyball

Part C: i don’t completely understand the question, perhaps there was a typo?
