Warfare is a disaster that affects all parties involved in it. In no small measure, there will be destruction of lives and properties among the waring nations and to some extent, some innocent people/countries may be caught in its crossfire.

The traditional disaster approach to warfare involves 4 stages which include

  • mitigation
  • preparedness
  • response
  • recovery

In the case of warfare, there are two major stages involved which include

  • pre-disaster stage
  • post-disaster stage

It is important that the pre disaster stage is the most important stage in warfare. This stage involves putting effort to ensure that the war does not happen, in other words prevention. This stage of prevention involves mitigation, negotiation, and reconciliation.

The Post-disaster stage in a war brings the conflict into its acute stage and further escalate all the surrounding conditions ending in even more adverse consequences.
