$m = \frac{y - y}{x - x} = \frac{5 - ( - 1)}{ - 5 - ( - 3)} = \frac{6}{ - 2} = - 3$

$y = - 3x + n$

Since both ( -3 , -1 ) and ( -5 , 5 ) pass through the line, they both satisfy its equation. Substitute any point in the new equation, I will choose ( -5 , 5 )

$5 = - 3( - 5) + n \\ n = 5 - 15 = - 10$

$y = - 3x - 10$
