In the passage the point of view that is used is, Switches between first-person and third-person limited

Because in the given passage there are two methods for this to happen: the "standard" option is to have a new character narrate, say, a different chapter, or to have the tale jump from the first person to the third person point of view or third to the first person point of view . The alternative is to keep the same narrator in first and just let them describe a situation they weren't present for.

When using first person, the narrator usually describes an event that happened in the past to the reader. The reader experiences the events of the tale in third person, unless the story is written in the past tense.

As in the given passage the first person point of view is also use as the narrator is describing about miss Lottie and third-person point of view limited is also used as the passage is in past tense.

He lost his wife, child, his household goods and his dog.
What literary devices is this?
podryga [215]

The literary device that is used here is:

 • Parallelism

What is Parallelism?

Parallelism is the literary device whereby the writer repeats succeeding words for the purpose of emphasis. Parallelism is important because it creates harmony in the statements being made. It also helps the reader to see the similarity between the words.

When parallelism is used in a sentence, it often seems like a rhythm is created in the flow of words. For instance, note the use of parallelism in this statement: The people were denied their voice, their strength, their right to live.

The repetition of the word, 'their' shows that something which belonged to the people had been denied to them. So, the use of "their" demonstrates parallelism.

In the sentence above, we can see a good example of parallelism because of the repetition of the word, 'his.' The intent is to stress that the wife, child, household goods, and dogs belonged to the man.
