According to Piaget, during the formal operational stage, adolescents employ propositional thought which is reasoning that uses abstract logic in the absence of concrete examples

The concrete operational stage: age 7 to 11

As children continue into elementary school, they become able to represent ideas and events more flexibly and logically. In the concrete operational stage, for example, a child may unconsciously follow the rule: “If nothing is added or taken away, then the amount of something stays the same.” This simple principle helps children to understand certain arithmetic tasks, such as in adding or subtracting zero from a number, as well as to do certain classroom science experiments, such as ones involving judgments of the amounts of liquids when mixed. Piaget called this period the concrete operational stage

What is formal operational stage Piaget?

The formal operational stage is the fourth and final stage of Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development. It begins at approximately age 12 and lasts into adulthood.  At this point in development, thinking becomes much more sophisticated and advanced

luda_lava [24]

In completion of your question:

Calculate how many fish they can catch and how many huts they can build on their own in one year

Answer:

Bagley can catch 180 fish and build 90 huts.

Spano can catch 120 fish and build 40 huts

Explanation:

If Bagley spends all her time just catching fish in one year she can catch 180 fish (1800 hrs/10 hrs per fish), on the other hand if she spends all her time making huts she can make 90 huts (1800hrs/ 20 hrs per hut) in one year. If Spano spends all his time just catching fish in one year he can catch 120 fish. On the other hand, if he spends all his time making huts in one year he can make 40 huts.

The answers were each gotten by dividing the total number of hrs worked(1800) by each person's rate(such as bagley's 10hr/fish).
