According to the DSM 5, those who are diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder are impulsive and lack the ability to express sorrow for their deeds.

What causes antisocial personality disorder (ASPD)?

Although there isn't a single cause of ASPD, the following things may make someone more likely to get it:

Biology: Serotonin levels in those with ASPD may be exceptional. The brain's chemical serotonin controls our mood and feelings of happiness.

Environment: Early childhood trauma or abuse raises the likelihood of having ASPD in later life.

Genetics: Certain hereditary factors may predispose certain people to develop ASPD. The disorder is not known to be caused by a single genetic component, though.

Lifestyle: Drug or alcohol abuse is a concern for about half of those with ASPD.

Gender: Compared to women, men are more prone to develop ASPD.
