The western's cities saw a considerable alteration as a result of population growth and industrial expansion. Cities grew as a result of people being drawn to industrial employment and technology enabling cities to grow upward and outward. Cities' rapid growth had a variety of negative effects, such as unhealthy overcrowding and subpar sanitation, as well as enhanced recreational opportunities and public places.

What are some advantages of urbanization?

Urbanization is the process through which a rural civilization becomes an urban one, concentrating a lot of people in towns and cities. This process typically takes place when a country is still growing. Globally speaking, urbanization is on the rise. Global urbanization has both beneficial and negative effects on society, but its main driver is the new economic opportunities it offers citizens and nations.

People who would otherwise be doomed to subsistence living without hope for economic advancement now have actual economic opportunities because to urbanization. With urbanization, there is an overall increase in commercial prospects, which leads to greater earnings and more jobs. Every aspect of society gains as the economy expands, whether it is from a stronger tax base or from increased competition among private businesses. Urbanization also has the advantage of facilitating social and cultural integration on a scale not possible for dispersed communities in rural settings.
