The term Osmosis refers to the movement of solvent molecules through a semipermeable membrane, from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration.

In this case, the solvent molecules travel  from the concentrated sugar solution to the potato. This movement of the solvent molecules depends on the difference in the concentration of the sugar solution in both parts.

4) The concentration of the sucrose solution in the potato was greater than 0.4 M but less than 0.6.
