In the chapter- Other side of the sandpaper of Book Thief, it is mentioned that almost ninety-percent of German population supported the fascist leader Adolf Hitler while only ten percent of Germans were against his regime. Hans Hubermann was one among them.

With his emphasis on knowledge and self-determination, Hans is the absolute opposite of the town and country's paternalistic authorities, who infantilize individuals rather than enabling them to think for themselves.

Hans seemed to be pretty content with his life at first. He has no specific goals and follows where the wind takes him. Yet he is certainly neither weak or cowardly, as he is one of the few people who openly criticizes Hitler's government.

By the end of the narrative, Hans has come to terms with his life and fate, and he accepts his death with dignity.

Answer: asymmetric information

Explanation: This phenomenon happens when there is a knowledge gap between two parties, meaning when one party has more knowledge about a subject matter than the other. For example a property owner who wants to sell a particular property has more information about the property than the buyer. This problem is common in the financial industry, for example a loan officer has all the information and conditions that surrounds giving out a loan than the customer taking the loan. This situation could lead to making decisions with negative repercussions.
