Edgar Degas was an impressionist painter. Although he was well known for painting ballet dancers, his most famous painting was The Absinthe Drinker (also known as In a Café) a painting of a woman standing fully with a glass of absinthe in front of her which represented the increasing social isolation in Paris. This painting is now on display at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, France.

n200080 [17]
