True. The timber culture act, desert land act, and timber and stone act provided avenues for westerners to acquire large tracts of land that were allowed under the homestead act.

What was the Desert Land Act 1877?

The Act of March 3, 1877, generally known as the Desert Land Act, The Desert Land Act, enacted on March 3, 1877, allows for the sale of desert lands to those who undertake to irrigate and cultivate those fields.

How did Western benefit from the Land Act of 1820?

The deed helped bring about a new era of Western domination. Due to the low cost, more people were able to immigrate to the West, increasing its population and, thus, the number of Congressional states.

There were too many cattle in Texas when the long drive era started, right?

There were too many cattle in Texas during the start of the "long drive" era, so cowboys drove massive herds to rail hubs in Louisiana, particularly New Orleans, for shipment to the East.

Prior to the time when Luis and Walter Alvarez proposed that an impact led to the extinction of the dinosaurs, it was generally
disa [49]

Answer:

Explanation:pon studying the Gubbio samples, Luis Alvarez wanted to know how long the foram extinction lasted before the species began to re-establish itself. He suggested the samples be handed over for analysis to another pair of Berkeley Lab scientists, nuclear chemists Frank Asaro and Helen Michel, who had developed a technique, called neutron activation analysis, that enabled precise measurements of very low concentrations of elements. Luis believed that neutron activation analysis would help determine how long it took for the clay layer to form. To the surprise of everyone involved, the measurements by Asaro and Michel showed that the clay layer was about 600 times richer in iridium than the surrounding limestone. Iridium, a silvery-white metal related to platinum, is virtually absent from the Earth’s crust, but high concentrations are common in extraterrestrial objects, such as asteroids.

The plot thickened when this same “iridium anomaly” was subsequently discovered in clay layers at locations in Denmark and New Zealand, and later dozens of other sites around the world where the geological record of the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundaries are also complete. These iridium-spiked layers of clay also contained an abundance of soot. Comparisons of ratios between iridium and several other key elements in the clay layers indicated that the widely scattered iridium anomalies all came from the same source – one that was not of this earth.

What did supporters of laissez-faire claim?
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]

Answer:

In any regard, supporters of laissez-faire governmental policies were often advocates for the "free market". They would suggest that federal or state involvement in business would stagnate and decelerate the growth of the economy. The "invisible hand" of the market does not actually exist, but this argument would be made in order to support the assertion that government involvement was not required. In reality, significant economic downfalls of the past could have been avoided, had the governments of "unregulated business" nations played a more active role. Claims such as these were made for the purpose of promoting a self-sustaining economy, even when such a thing cannot coexist with financial disparity.

I hope this helped you understand the motives behind laissez-faire business and government policies. Blessings to you.

"The White Man's Burden"
Angelina_Jolie [31]

Answer:

The White Man's Burden" is a poem by the British Victorian poet and novelist Rudyard Kipling. While he originally wrote the poem to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897, Kipling revised it in 1899 to exhort the American people to conquer and rule the Philippines. Conquest in the poem is not portrayed as a way for the white race to gain individual or national wealth or power. Instead, the speaker defines white imperialism and colonialism in moral terms, as a “burden” that the white race must take up in order to help the non-white races develop civilization. Because of the poem's influential moral argument for American imperialism, it played a key role in the congressional debates about whether America should annex the Philippine Islands after the Spanish-American War. The phrase "white man's burden" remains notorious as a racist justification for Western conquest.
