The introduction of writing(Cuneiform) made it possible for merchants to keep track of various trades.

Although agriculture was Sumer's primary industry, trade with distant lands flourished as well. Because the Mesopotamian plain lacked resources like metals, timber, stone, and grapevines, the Sumerians had to trade abroad to obtain them.

Cuneiform is one of the oldest known forms of writing. It means "wedge-shaped," because it was written on a clay tablet with a reed stylus cut to make a wedge-shaped mark. There have been discovered clay enveloped letters as well as works of literature such as the Epic of Gilgamesh.

Sumerian city of Uruk which advanced the writing of cuneiform.

How was the addition of Oregon to the United States an example of the idea of Manifest Destiny?
marysya [2.9K]

Answer:Manifest Destiny, in U.S. history, the supposed inevitability of the continued territorial expansion of the boundaries of the United States westward to the Pacific and beyond. Before the American Civil War (1861–65), the idea of Manifest Destiny was used to validate continental acquisitions in the Oregon Country, Texas, New Mexico, and California. The purchase of Alaska after the Civil War briefly revived the concept of Manifest Destiny, but it most evidently became a renewed force in U.S. foreign policy in the 1890s, when the country went to war with Spain, annexed Hawaii, and laid plans for an isthmian canal across Central America.
