The assignment wants to analyze your knowledge of Gothic literature. For that reason, I can't write your short story, but I'll show you how to write it.

Short story structure

• Exposition: Introduce your characters and the environment where the story will take place.
• Rising action: Begin to develop the gothic nature of the short story, making the story's tension gradually increase.
• Climax: Present the most important point of the story, where the Gothicism stands out and the tension of the story reaches its maximum.
• Falling action: Show what happened after the event that formed the climax and start to ease the tension.
• Conclusion: Finish the story and show how each character will continue their lives.

Gothic literature has very precise and characteristic elements. You should use these elements to express the Gothicism of your story and strengthen the narrative's points. These elements are:

1. Mysticism.
2. Horror.
3. Mentions of death.
4. Sadness.
5. supernatural elements.
6. Isolation and loneliness.
7. Thriller.
8. Negative feelings.

Below you can see an example of how your short story exposition might be written.

The mansion in the center of town was imposing and had a dark and mysterious air. Philip knew that his stay in the mansion would promote events he was not used to, as as soon as he entered he felt a shiver take over his body and a feeling of loneliness and distress invaded his heart.
