Demand is said to be<u> Elastic</u> when the quantity demanded is very responsive to changes in price.

<h3>What is Elasticity of Demand?</h3>

Demand responsiveness to changes in other market variables is measured by demand elasticity. The price elasticity of demand, for instance, indicates how much demand will change in response to a change in a product's price.

Both elastic and inelastic demand exists. Demand that is elastic is more responsive to changes in the variables being measured against. Products that are inelastic are less sensitive to the changes being measured.

The slope of the demand curve and price elasticity of demand is directly correlated. The law of demand, which states that consumers will demand a greater quantity of goods at lower prices and a lesser quantity of goods at higher prices, was most likely covered in your very first economics course. The downward sloping of demand curves is explained by the law of demand.

Thus the Law of demand directs the elasticity of demand.

uppose the annual demand function for the Honda Accord is Qd = 430 – 10 PA + 10 PC – 10 PGwhere PA and PC are the prices of the
emmainna [20.7K]

Answer:

Qd = 400 units

elasticity of demand of the Accord with respect to the price of Camry = 0.5

elasticity with respect to the price of gasoline = -0.075

Explanation:

Solution:

The annual demand function for the Honda Accord is:

Qd = 430 – 10 PA + 10 PC – 10 PG

Where,

PA = Price of Honda Accord

PC = Price of Honda Camry

PG = Price of Gasoline per gallon.

Selling Price of both cars = $20,000

Fuel Cost = $3 per gallon.

a) Elasticity of Demand of the Accord with respect to the price of Camry.

First, we need to calculate the number of units demanded.

Qd = 430 – 10 PA + 10 PC – 10 PG

Qd = 430 – 10 (20) + 10 (20) – 10 (3.00)

Qd = 430 - 200 + 200 - 30

Qd = 430 - 30

Qd = 400 units

Cross-price elasticity of the Accord with respect to the price of the Camry will be:

Cross Price = (dQd/dPC) x (PC)/(Qd)

dQd/dPC = 10

PC = 20

Qd = 400

So,

Cross Price = 10* 20/400

Cross Price  = 0.5

b) Elasticity with respect to the price of gasoline?

Elasticity =  (dQd/dPG)*(PG/Qd)

dQd/dPG = -10

PG = 20

Qd = 400

Elasticity  = (-10)*(3/400)

Elasticity  =  -0.075

20. Which of the following is not a difference between monopolies and perfectly competitive markets? a. Monopolies can earn prof
Naily [24]

Answer:

The correct answer is option c.

Explanation:

A perfectly competitive market has a large number of buyers and sellers. The firms are price takers and the price is determined by the market forces. Thus the monopoly firms face a horizontal demand curve. This horizontal line represents price, average revenue, and marginal revenue. The equilibrium is obtained where price, (average revenue and marginal revenue) is equal to marginal cost. There is no restriction on entry and exit of firms in the long run. That's why firms face a break-even in the long run.

While in a monopoly market there is a single firm. This firm fixes price higher than marginal cost. The demand curve of the monopoly is a downward sloping showing relatively elastic demand. A monopoly firm can earn profits in both the short run as well as the long run.

"Parker Company stock is currently selling for $130.00 per share and the firm's dividends are expected to grow at 6 percent inde
8_murik_8 [283]

Answer:

Cost of equity = 10.7%

Explanation:

<em>We will work out the required rate of return using the the dividend valuation model. The model states that the value of a stock is the present value of the future divided discounted at the cost of equity. </em>

The model is given below:

P = D× (1+g)/(r-g)

P- price of stock, D- dividend payable now, g- growth rate in dividend, r- cost of equity

So we substitute

130 = 5.50× (1+r)/(r-0.06)

cross multiplying

(r-0.06)× 130 = 5.50 × (1+r)

130 r- 7.8  = 5.50 + 5.50r

collecting like terms

130 r - 5.50r=5.50 + 7.8

124.5  r= 13.3

Divide both sides by 124.5

r =13.3 /124.5=  0.1068

r=0.1068 × 100=  10.7%

Cost of equity = 10.7%

Explain what the national debt is and two ways to affects the country
Sati [7]
A National Debt is the amount of money obtained by one country from another that has not been paid. This can effect a country by means of loss of land actually owned, or it can cause agencies (e.g. Social Security Administration) to be cut on their budget. Meaning the agency to be cut of operational funding will loose a certain amount of funding until funds are found. Normally multiple agencies are cut to obtain some of the money to pay back the debt but this can really hurt agencies for reasoning of staffing as well as other operational costs. Hope this helps!
