John horn argues that crystallized intelligence continues to increase in middle adulthood, whereas fluid intelligence begins to decline in middle adulthood.

Crystallized intelligence is mirrored during a person's cognition, vocabulary, and reasoning supported by acquired information. Examples include remembering of historical events and dates, geographical locations, reciting poetic texts, etc.

Fluid intelligence is defined as reasoning ability to generate, transform, and manipulate different types of information in real time. This intelligence involves having the ability to suppose and reason abstractly and solve issues.This ability is considered free of learning, experience, and education. It's example include solving of puzzles and coming up with problem-solving strategies. There is a sense of open-mindedness.
