The amount of cashew mixed is 5 pounds

Word problem on total cost

Cost of 1 pound of cashew = $14

Cost of 1 pound of peanut = $6.50

Total cost of 1 pound of the mixed nuts = $10.25

Cost of 5 pounds of peanuts = 5 x $6.50

Cost of 5 pounds of peanuts = $32.50

Let the amount of cashew be x

Total cost of x cashew = 14x

Total amount of the mixed nuts = x + 5

Total cost of the mixed nuts = 10.25(x+5)

Total cost of the mixed nuts = 10.25x + 51.25

14x + 32.50 = 10.25x + 51.25

14x - 10.25x = 51.25 - 32.50

3.75x = 18.75

x = 18.75/3.75

x = 5

Therefore, the amount of cashew mixed is 5 pounds

Find the values of x,y, and z. The diagram is not to scale.
vazorg [7]
All the angles must add to 180degrees in a triangle.

180 = 59 + 35 + x
180 = 94 + x
86 = x

Supplementary angles x and z add to 180
180 = x + z
180 = 86 + z
94 = z

Now the last triangle is with angles 11, z, and y
they must add to 180 so...
180 = 11 + z + y
180 = 11 + 94 + y
180 = 105 + y
75 = y

Hope this helps!

Juliette [100K]

Answer:

x=23

Step-by-step explanation:

The two angles are equal so you can set 8x-77 and 3x+38 equal to each other and write it as:

8x-77=3x+38

Then you get like terms on the same sides by subtracting 3x from both sides and getting:

5x-77=38

Then you add 77 to both sides and get:

5x=115

Then you divide both sides by 5 and get x=23
