Terence V. Powderly, was one the most prominent leader of the organization, who had large support and hopes of the laborers in U.S.,

the organization had been recognized as the first organization that had gained the popular support from the laborers.

The organization had focused upon the overall <em>development</em> of the culture of the laborers and their <em>uplftment</em> in the American society. They had rised many demands in which the most significant was the 8 hour work per day.
