The Jews were always proud of their nationality which they held as divine ordained through the promises Yahweh had given their patriarchs Abraham,Isaac and Jacob. This sense of divine significance maintained their spirit of nationality that has survived and spanned three millenniums.

They did this by "actively tackling racial prejudice as well as economic, political and social challenges to create a black urban culture that would exert enormous influence in the decades to come.
- The Harlem Renaissance appeared out of nowhere, marking the development of a new urban, African-American culture.
Thus this is how blacks were taking pride and ownership of who they were and overcoming the obstacles white society had placed in front of them.
