where,

- b = -6
- c = 8
x = - b ± √b² - 4ac / 2a
= -(-6) ± √(-6)² - 4(1)(8) / 2(1)
= 6 ± √36 - 32 / 2
= 6 ± √4 / 2
= 6 ± 2 / 2
x = 6/2 + 2/2 or 6/2 - 2/2
= 3 + 1 or 3 - 1
x = 4 or 2
