In the 1503, it was defined that, an Encomienda, is consisted of a grant by the crown to any soldier or an official or an conquistador who were living in a particular area, which also includes the native Americans and Filipinos.

The encomienda is believed to be a Spanish system of labor, in which the one who conquers had been rewarded with a non- Christian as a laborer to conqueror.

It is also considered that the laborers get any benefits like, the education, military protection. This system had been applied to many larger areas and the scale was much greater during the conquests of America and Philippines.

The people who were conquered were termed as, vassals to the monarch of Spain and these were then awarded to a particular important conqueror.
