Inverted sentence -

beneath the surface of the pond tiny fish swam.

What is an inverted sentence?

An inverted sentence is one in which the verb occurs before the subject in a language where the subject usually comes first (noun).

The man and his wife resided down the street without anybody thinking that they were actually spies for a foreign government.

The noun phrase after the verb "lived" may be easily interpreted as the subject because there isn't an object after the verb. Such an inversion frequently introduces do-support in English.
